Film Adjunct

Chesapeake College is accepting applications for an adjunct faculty member to teach Introduction to Film in Fall 21. This course will be offered at Easton High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:45 a.m.  There is potential for additional sections.

  • Facilitate classroom instruction
  • Provide a learning environment that supports student success
  • Teach assigned class in accordance with established student learning outcomes (SLOs)
  • Maintain office hours
  • Develop syllabus or follow departmental syllabus, as required
  • Select and compile assessments, assignments, and/or discussion activities as a measurement of performance relative to SLOs
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Report assessment data as required
  • Maintain and submit accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress (mid-term and final)
  • Maintain attendance records and report attendance when needed
  • Use CANVAS to maintain grades and attendance
  • Additional duties as may be assigned by supervisor


  • Experience with learning management systems like Canvas is preferred.
  • Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Evidence of familiarity and/or teaching excellence with adult learners in multiple formats, (i.e., online, face-to-face, hybrid) is preferred.

Successful applicants will be comfortable working with students from a variety of backgrounds and with differing levels of academic preparation.

Master's degree in the discipline or closely related discipline with a minimum of fifteen (15) graduate semester hours in the subject area from an accredited institution is required.
